What is a Gia Certificate?

  

Issued by the Gemological Institute of America, a GIA Certificate ensures the quality and includes detailed, unbiased information about the stone.
The nonprofit Institute was established in 1931 and to this day, it has been the foremost authority on natural, coloured, and synthetic diamonds, as well as coloured stones and pearls.

  

All our rings with white diamonds that weigh over 0.3 carat, come with a GIA Certificate. The report provides details about the cut, clarity, and carat weight, along with measurements and other additional information confirming the authenticity and quality of the diamond.

   

      

In the 1940s, the worldwide standard for diamond evaluation or the so-called principle of “4Cs” and the International Grading System™ were establish.

 

The first C stands for the most important feature – the Cut of the stone. The quality of the cut determines the overall appearance, brilliance, and sparkle of the stone.

  

  

The next C is for the Color of the diamond. The GIA grades diamonds on a scale of D (colourless) through Z (light colour). The diamonds we select for our designs correspond to colours G or F, which means that they are nearly colourless and only a professional gemologist can detect the difference between colours.

 

  

The third C represents the stone’s Clarity. Practically all natural diamonds contain small imperfections inside, called inclusions, or on its surface, called blemishes. Clarity refers to the degree to which these imperfections are present. On the scale from included to flawless diamonds, the diamonds in our designs are graded as VS or VVS, which stands for “very slightly” or “very, very slightly included”. Inclusions are minor and only visible under a magnifying glass and not to the naked eye. The absence of inclusions and blemishes increases the stone’s rarity and value.

  

  

The last, but not least important C, declares the Carat Weight. Diamonds, as well as other gemstones, are weighed in metric carats, equal to 0.2 grams.
